Information

Dr Majid Rad is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering within the School of Engineering. He had served as an Engineer in industry before pursuing his graduate studies and undertaking an academic career. Since receiving PhD in 1997 he has been continuously involved in teaching, research and supervising students at undergrad and postgrad levels. Prior to joining ECU in 2008 he worked for reputable universities in the Middle East and North America; the latest being the Ryerson University in Canada. His continued collaboration with the industry has provided him with valuable practical knowledge in his engineering discipline.

Research and Development

Dr Rad has received awards for excellence in teaching and research, has published numerous papers in reputable journals, and has delivered many lectures and presentations in international conferences. He has served on a number of scientific and conference organisation committees, and acts as reviewer for international conferences and journals. His research interests include:

• Robotics and Automation
• Manufacturing and Production Processes/Systems
• Special Purpose Machine Design
• Engineering Optimisation
